Joslynn Gates
Intern in Marriage and Family Therapist

Hope. Self-awareness. Confidence. Fulfillment.

Starting therapy can sometimes feel intimidating but reaching out represents an act of both heart and courage. My hope is to create a safe and compassionate environment where you can feel seen and supported as you navigate challenges and transitions.
My own family has given me some perspective on navigating multiple experiences and expectations. I carry that awareness into the therapy room, meeting each person with a deep respect for their unique story. I’m especially drawn to supporting adolescents and families as they face the ups and downs of the teen years. As the oldest of three siblings, I understand firsthand how family dynamics shape us—and how important it is for parents and teens to feel heard.

With a background in psychology and family systems, I approach my work with curiosity, empathy, and a practical style. I’m especially interested in how relationships, communication, and resilience can become tools for growth. My clinical training is rooted in family therapy, and I also draw from approaches that focus on real-life problem solving and helping clients take meaningful next steps.

Note to parents:

Raising a teenager can be tough sometimes.
Maybe you’re seeing more arguments at home, anxiety about school, or a teen who seems to be withdrawing. It’s very natural to want some additional support when the family rhythm feels off.
Here’s where our team can be useful: I bring fresh energy, a strong academic foundation, and the benefit of close supervision by experienced clinicians here at Rock Springs. Our senior staff can consult with you as needed while I work with your teen. Parents often find this combination reassuring—you receive the attentiveness of a younger therapist, along with the experience of seasoned professionals guiding our work.
I’m especially interested in helping adolescents and families reduce conflict, improve communication, and find calmer ways to connect. With my background in psychology and family systems, and as the oldest of three siblings myself, I know how much relationships shape who we are.
My goal is simple: create a space where teens feel comfortable opening up, and where parents feel supported in the process. Families who work with me often describe me as approachable, steady, and encouraging.
